India’s ace shuttler Saina Nehwal dropped out of the Macau Open badminton tournament on Friday with a quarter-final loss.
Saina lost to China’s Yiman Zhang 21-12, 21-17 in straight games. The Indian was playing her 3rd tournament since returning from a knee surgery. Zhang is world number 226 and was unseeded here.
Saina, who is currently ranked 10th in the world, also failed to qualify for the Dubai Super Series Finals. India will be represented by PV Sindhu, who has risen to No. 7 in world rankings. Sindhu has skipped Macau Open as she is preparing for the Dubai event.
