BB Sharan Singh, Wrestling Foundation of India, displayed confidence in Indian wrestler, Narsingh Yadav’s exoneration in a statement on Wednesday.
“We have presented our case to World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), I am sure that we will be in the clear,” said BB Sharan Singh.
Narsingh returned positive for a banned steroid following a dope test on June 25 by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). NADA later exonerated him of all the doping charges, saying he “was a victim of sabotage done by a competitor”.
However, on August 16, WADA appealed in the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) against the clean chit given to him.
“Hearing in WADA is on 18th but no instant decision will be taken, it is a long process,” he added.
Narsingh is scheduled to open his Rio campaign on Friday, August 19, a day after the hearing.
Singh says that the situation has also affected the players mentally which may hinder their performance.
