With Indian athletes still struggling to open the medal tally at Rio 2016 and critics raising questions on their performances, India’s sole gold medalist-Abhinav Bindra has come with the explanation.
On Tuesday, Abhinav took to twitter and tweeted:
Each medal costs the UK £5.5 million. That’s the sort of investment needed. Let’s not expect much until we put systems in place at home.

The ace shooter’s tweet was in reference to an article published on The Guardian, which described how the country was investing heavily in its athletes to achieve glory at the quadrennial event.
Bindra secured the sole gold medal for India in Beijing Olympics 2008; however, this time he had to settle with fourth position after he slipped out in final stages of the game.
