133 vs Sri Lanka, 28 February 2012, Hobart
Former Australian cricketer Dean Jones described this innings as “one of the greatest ODI knocks of all time”. India needed to chase down Sri Lanka’s total of 320 in 40 overs in order to keep their hopes alive for the CB tri-series final. After Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar got India off to a good start, Kohli took over and completely ransacked the Sri Lankan attack. He smoked 16 fours and two sixes to take India to a memorable 7-wicket win. He race to 133 not out on just 86 balls.
183 vs Pakistan, 18 March 2012, Dhaka
Virat showed the world once again that he was the master of chase. Chasing Pakistan’s total of 329 in the Asia Cup, Kohli came into bat in the first over of the match after Gautam Gambhir was dismissed. He strung two important partnerships with Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma of 133 and 172 runs respectively. Virat notched up his highest score of 183 with 22 fours and a six and took India to victory.
100 vs Australia, 16 October 2013, Jaipur
This was a series of huge scores. Rohit Sharma (141*) and Virat Kohli (100*) scored unbeaten centuries as India chased down their highest total in ODIs. Virat’s hundred was scored off 52 balls and remains the fastest ODI century by an Indian.
115 vs Australia, 30 October 2013, Nagpur
This came in the same series, again chasing a huge total. This time Kohli reached the milestone in 61 balls, the third-fastest by an Indian as of 2015
123 vs New Zealand, 19 January 2014, Napier
Virat Kohli led India’s charge single-handedly while chasing New Zealand’s total of 292. As wickets were tumbling around him, Kohli kept the boundaries flowing. However this one has sad ending as as Kohli finally got out playing a rash shot outside the off-stump and India fell short by 24 runs.
