In order to encourage voluntary blood donations, WHO’s theme to celebrate World Blood Donor Day is “Blood connects us all.”
If You are also thinking to become a regular donor- this ‘World Blood Donor Day, ‘ here is the list of things you should know.
Iron is important: Eat iron-rich foods, such as red meat, fish, poultry, beans, spinach, iron-fortified cereals, and raisins.
Sleep well and drink extra water: Get a good night’s sleep and Drink an extra 16 oz. of water before the donation.
No Aspirin: Remember that your system must be free of aspirin for two days prior to donation.
Eat Healthy after donation: Munch something healthy, immediately after donating.
Avoid Alcohol: After donation, drink an extra four glasses of water and avoid alcohol over the next 24 hours.
Precaution: If you experience dizziness or lightheadedness after donation, stop what you are doing and sit down or lie down until you feel better. Avoid performing any activity where fainting may lead to injury for at least 24 hours.
