Opposition parties have collectively planned for a nationwide “Bharat Bandh” on November 28 to protest against the demonetisation decision announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which rendered the old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency useless.
Citing the problems faced by the “common man” Opposition parties including leaders such as West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi have extensively protested against demonetisation.
During a rally in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi finally spoke out about the proposed Bharat Bandh: We talk about shutting down corruption and black money, they talk about shutting down the nation (“Hum kale dhan aur bhrashtachar ko bandh karne ki baat kar rahe hain aur vo Bharat bandh karne ki baat kar rahe hain”).
