The car that belonged to the assailants who shot at Senior BJP leader Brijpal Teotia and five others in Ghaziabad has been recovered on Friday.
Brijpal Teotia and five others were seriously injured when they were attacked by armed assailants in Ghaziabad on Thursday.
According to Meerut zone IG Surjeep Pandey, at around 7.20 PM, unidentified assailants came in a car and opened fire at Teotia and others at Raoli Road under Muradnagar police station. Over a 100 rounds were fired in the attack.
The BJP leader and five others were seriously injured in the incident, he said, adding that even though the police launched a chase, the culprits managed to flee.
Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force Inspector General Ram Kumar Singh visited the spot where Teotia was attacked on Thursday.
The injured were initially admitted at a hospital in Ghaziabad from where, Teotia was referred to Fortis Hospital in Noida, the IG said.
“We are praying for his speedy recovery. Situation is critical,” said UP General Secretary Pankaj Singh.
Three people including a woman constable have been detained for questioning by the police.
“We have recovered the car which was used in attack on BJP leader, forensic team at the spot. As of now this looks like a case of personal enmity,” said Daljit Chaudhary, UP ADG (law and order).
Teotia, who had contested the 2012 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election from Muradnagar constituency, was on his way to Ghaziabad when the incident occurred, he added.
