Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who was in Varanasi for a mega event, returned to Delhi on Tuesday evening after she reportedly fell ill.

The Congress president stood in an SUV greeting thousands of people who had gathered in the streets of the city to meet her, before taking a breaking.

It was later announced that she was unwell and would not be able to continue with the roadshow.

“Sonia ji is completely fine, she just felt a little tired,” Congress leader Pramod Tiwari said in a statement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished her a speedy recovery.

The roadshow began from Kachahari at 12 noon after Sonia Gandhi and other party leaders garland the statue of BR Ambedkar.

UP Congress chief Raj Babbar and senior leader Sheila Dikshit too joined Gandhi in her roadshow.
