Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested four people on Wednesday in connection with the attack on BJP leader Brijpal Teotia.
On August 11, at around 7.20 PM, unidentified assailants came in a car and opened fire at Brijpal Teotia and others at Raoli Road under Muradnagar police station in Ghaziabad. Over a 100 rounds were fired in the attack leaving Teotia and five others seriously injured.
Brijpal remains to be in a critical condition and is undergoing treatment at Fortis Hospital, Noida.
IG Sujeet Pandey on Wednesday gave a statement regarding the arrested convicts. “Arrested person Ram Kumar had followed Brijpal Teotia and others on the day of incident, gave information of his movement. The other arrested person, Nishant is one of the shooters and was in the car used at the spot. He is one of the main conspirators.”
He added, “Rahul Tyagi has a major part in the conspiracy and Jitendra (40) helped in arranging shooters.”
Police suspect it to be a case of personal enmity and has recovered the car the assailants used in the attack.
Teotia, who had contested the 2012 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election from Muradnagar constituency, was on his way to Ghaziabad when the incident occurred, he added.
