RijjuLaunching a fresh attack at P Chidambaram over the Ishrat Jahan issue, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday said that several unfortunate steps had been taken by the UPA Govt, particularly during Chidambaram’s tenure as home minister.

“Unfortunate steps taken by UPA Govt, particularly during Chidambaram’s time, will see what is to be done next,” Kiren Rijiju said.

Talking about the one-member panel looking into the missing files related to the alleged fake encounter case, Rijiju said, “We have already got the report, the one man committee constituted by the MHA. We have seen the report, some of the important documents are still untraceable.”

“Intention is very clear, why a hardcore terrorist was declared innocent through an affidavit, that is clearly perceptible here,” he added.

Ishrat, Javed Shaikh alias Pranesh Pillai, Amjadali Akbarali Rana and Zeeshan Johar were killed in an encounter with Gujarat Police on the outskirts of Ahmedabad on June 15, 2004.
