Threat perception to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s life is extremely high this Independence Day, alerted security agencies on Thursday.
According to TOI, in the wake of high threat, Intelligence agencies and the Special Protection Group are learnt to have made a strong pitch to national security adviser Ajit Doval to suggest Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the nation from within a bulletproof enclosure at Red Fort this Independence Day.
TOI quotes a senior officer stating that the recommendation wasn’t just the fallout of the Kashmir unrest or the increasing infiltration bids from across the border; it was also because the agencies had intercepted communication about the use of drones to breach the PM’s security cordon.
In 2014, Modi had bucked the trend of PM speaking on Independence Day from within bulletproof enclosures, he came out in open and addressed the crowd in his signature style.
However, this time, Security Agencies expect him to follow the suggestion following the intensity of threat.
