It’s trouble in paradise for Lashkar-Toiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad as the radicalized Indian youth are gravitating towards the global terror organization Islamic State.
While outfits like Hisbul Mujahideen and SIMI have frequently carried out significant jihadist attacks, IS carries a different allure as the outfit holds lands in Syria and Iraq.
The Times of India quoted an intelligence official as saying that radicalized Muslims, who till now leaned towards Pakistan based outfits or their Indian affiliates, are now looking towards IS due too its ability to acquire and hold territories.
The anxiety among domestic outfits is understandable, as IS through an online magazine last year had mocked Lashkar and other terror outfits for being puppets in the hands of Pakistan army.
IS’ influence is growing, not only in India but across the world.
Incidentally, Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) have also aligned with IS.
The growing influence of IS has worried not only the domestic terror outfits but also the security agencies, which fear attacks by JMB in Assam and West Bengal in the coming days.
