Five members of a Mumbai based businessman’s family have left to join the Islamic State.
According to reports, Ashfaque Ahmed (26) along with his wife, daughter and two cousins left to join ISIS in June.
In June, Ashfaque informed his youngest brother of his intentions to stay in Islamic State territory.
Police is now questioning Mohammed Haneef, a preacher to inspect his involvement in the matter.
Along with Haneef, Ashfaque’s father, Abdul Majeed blames three individuals, Abdur Rasheed, Arshi Qureshi and Rizwan Khan for instigating his son, and had filed on FIR against all four on August 6.
Majeed claims that his son had converted to the Ahl-e-Hadees sect of Muslims from the Barveli sect in 2014. The same year, Ashfaque also displayed major behavioural changes and spent most of his time with his cousins, Mohammed Siraj and Ejaz Rehman, who have joined the IS with him.
Whether Ashfaque’s wife went with him willingly or forcefully remains to be known.
