Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is set to embark on his month-long ‘kisan yatra’ from Deoria to Delhi starting Tuesday.
During his 2,500-km yatra, Gandhi will cover Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabirnagar and Basti besides Deoria on the first two days.
Gandhi will also hold road shows at various places during the yatra.
The party has made preparations for making the Congress leader’s longest yatra in the state a success. Congress has released around 250 “mini-raths”, each carrying 1,600 workers’ kit which contains publicity material, workers’ handbook along with ‘kisan maangpatra’.
The party’s longest yatra would comprise khaat panchayats, for which around 3,500 “khaats” have been speacially woven.
On the first day of the ‘Deoria to Dilli yatra’, Rahul will hold a ‘khaat panchayat’ at Doodhnath Mandir Maidan, Rudrapur in Deoria at about 12 noon, followed by a roadshow and an interaction with farmers about 5 pm at Kanchanpur village.
