After 10-year long wait, finally the Indian Army soldiers will receive bullet-proof jackets.
As per a report in The Times of India, the Indian Army has signed a deal of Rs 140 crore with Tata Advanced Materials Limited in order to make sure the security on an emergency provision. Soldiers will receive 50,000 bullet-proof vests.
It is expected that jackets delivery will start from August this year, a Defence Ministry source told the daily. The source further added that procurement would conclude by January 2017.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar passed this interim emergency acquisition soon after he took over the charge in November 2014.
