Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed a rally in Jamshedpur on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day.

While stressing on rural development and need for women healthcare facilities in villages, PM Modi said that it is imperative that panchayat representatives focus on improving the quality of life in villages.

Here are 10 important lessons from PM Modi’s speech in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand:

Rural Development

We’re making efforts to organise various events for social development at places outside Delhi so that more people can be connected.

Mahatma Gandhi used to say that “Bharat gaaon mein basa hai” but we see that distance between urban and rural India is only increasing.

Therefore for the first time, we have focused on rural development in our budget.

I want to congratulate the state governments and authorities for going to villages to spread awareness on development, despite the scorching heat.

Women and Child Care

I request women representatives in villages to take a resolution to build toilets so that no mother or woman is forced to defecate in open.

40% women representatives must also take steps to ensure that death of woman during pregnancy should not take place in villages.

How many Panchayat representatives take responsibility of ensuring that no child is deprived of poliovirus vaccine?

When children of a village stop attending schools, it should worry the Panchayat members.

Quality of Life

It is Imperative that Panchayat representatives in villages should take initiative towards developing public life in villages.

We can’t let our mothers in villages to inhale the smoke that goes inside them while cooking food on ‘chulas’.
