Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked for a report on The Panama Papers within 15 days.
According to The Indian Express – the newspaper which first released the Panama details, PM has sought a report on Panama Paper Leaks by April 19.
PM Modi, after returning from his five-day Belgium-US-Saudi Arabia official trip on the intermediate night of April 3-4, called officials at 7.30 am to discuss the Panama Papers issue, reports the newspaper.
Reportedly PM does not want Special Investigative Team to look into the matter, instead, he wants the case to be referred to a small group of domain experts as he believes that the handing over the case to the SIT would delay the arrival of conclusion as the team will take its own time to work.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on April 4 had set up a committee to probe the Panama Papers that comprises members from different agencies.
