At a time when forestfires at various locations in the state have created a havoc by destroying over 3000 hectares of forest land, news of rain should come as a respite in the sweltering heat. Instead, the news of rains in Uttarakhand has brought back the horrific memories of floods that hit parts of the hilly-state in 2013.
A massive cloud burst was reported in the Rudraprayag area of the state on Saturday evening.
According to reports, Rudraprayag-Badrinath highway route has been severly affected.
Local authorities are ensuring that pilgrims are escorted to safer places.
No casualty has been reported so far.
