A mother in Uttar Pradesh was forced to spend the night with the body of her child outside a government hospital in Meerut as ambulance drivers refused to drive her home.
Imrana, who had lost her two year old daughter, was asked to pay Rs 1,500 for the ride home.
Imrana lives 50 km away from the hospital and she did not have the money the drivers demanded.
“Ambulance asked me for Rs.1500 to take my child’s dead body back home. I had called 108 to reach ambulance,” she said.
She was offered assistance the next morning and was able to hire an ambulance to reach home.
