Rumours of salt shortage in Western UP triggered panic among buyers, taking benefit of which some stores in the area are selling salt at Rs 200 per kilogram.
Moradabad DM said,” These are rumours that salt will be sold at higher rates, this led to panic among people today.”

“Will take action against those spreading rumours, and there is no shortage of salt,” ADG (Law and Order) Daljit Chaudhary said.
“Shortage of salt is a rumour, kindly do not pay any attention to it and help us maintain law and order,” IG zone Lucknow said.
Moradabad DM also said,”Salt is not going to be sold even one rupee more than its original rate, so people need not worry.”
“Some people are spreading rumours that there is shortage of salt and sugar, this is false,” said Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
