Paying tribute to ‘Iron Man’ of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on his official twitter handle that, “I bow to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary. We recall his rich contribution to India”.

Birth Anniversary of Sardel Patel is celebrated as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) all over the nation.

Narendra Modi also offered floral tributes at Sardar Patel’s statue at Patel Chowk in Delhi’s Parliament Street.


During his monthly ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the Sardar Patel’s contribution in strengthened the cooperative movement in early days of struggle for freedom. He also mentioned that Vallabhbhai was country’s first home minister, who dedicated himself to the welfare of farmers.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, played a vital role in country’s struggle for independence and was one of the founding fathers of the Indian Republic.

Sardar Patel had great skill and masterful diplomacy, as he successfully integrated hundreds of princely states with the Indian union.
