Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with Indian Army and Air force Chiefs of Staff, and Indian Navy Vice Chief of Staff at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg on Saturday.
The agenda of the meeting was the prevailing security situation. Discussions were held regarding how India should respond to the recent Uri attacks.
Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha and Vice Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral K B Singh were present at the meeting. Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lanba wasn’t available hence, the Vice Chief of Staff represented the Navy at the meeting.
In one of the worst attacks in the valley in recent times, militants stormed an army camp in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir, killing 18 Indian soldiers.
Following the attack, India had decided to take a tough stand against its neighbour. Consequently, the Prime Minister is now looking at all possible outcomes and modes of retaliation, considering the possibility of the feud blowing up into an all out war.
