After the Supreme Court delivered a verdict, cancelling the bail plea of RJD leader Mohammad Shahabuddin, a new petition has been filed in the SC that seeks his transfer from Siwan jail.
Shahabuddin had surrendered before Siwan Court on September 30 after the Supreme Court cancelled his bail granted by Patna High Court.
“Take him into custody immediately,” the court told the Bihar government citing ‘societal interest’. Shahabuddin is facing criminal charges in around 50 cases.
A bench of Justice P C Ghose and Justice Amitava Roy had delivered the verdict, deeming Patna High Court’s grant of bail “unjustified”.
Shahabuddin, who had been in jail for more than 10 years in connection with multiple cases, was granted bail by the Patna High Court on September 7 in connection with the murder of a man who witnessed the killing of two brothers in Siwan.
