Centre on Friday urged Supreme Court to hold the first phase of National Entrance and Eligibility Test (NEET) on July 24 instead of May 1, 2016.
The apex court on Thursday told the Centre to implement the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) from the academic year 2016-17 itself.
The court approved the CBSE schedule for holding NEET exams on May 1 and July 24, and the declaration of results on August 17, 2016.
The decision has had an impact on the All India Pre-Medical Test(AIPMT), as now, they are supposed to prepare for an exam which is not only based on a different syllabus but is also to be held within three months.
Thus, to give time to students, the AG approached the court to reconsider its order that approved to conduct the first phase of examination on May 1. It also urged the court not scrap the state exams.
