In a major development in the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), the Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Centre and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to start preparing for the second phase of the examination that would be held on July 24.
The SC asked the Centre and CBSE to give wide publicity about holding of the second phase of NEET on July 24 through press notes and internet.
According to reports, a bench comprising of Justices AR dave, Shiva Kirti Singh and AK Goel said that forcing students to multiple entrance exams across the nation is an excessive burden on the medical aspirants.
The top court also asked the Medical Council of India (MCI) to respond to state Governments’ plea to hold separate exams this year by May 5th.
The apex court issued orders after hearing the plea of a batch of applications seeking that the states should be allowed to conduct their own entrance examinations.
