Rain dropsThe MeT department today issued an alert warning of heavy rains in Uttarakhand from tomorrow morning, following which the state government directed officials to take precautionary measures.

Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places across the state especially Uttarkashi, Tehri, Dehradun, Almora, Nainital, Champavat and Pithoragarh districts during a period of 48 hours starting from 15th morning, MeT office Director Vikram Singh said.

Chief Secretary Shatrughna Singh issued an advisory to all the District Magistrates asking them to be vigilant and take all precautionary measures for people’s safety.

The MeT department also forecast moderate rains and thunderstorms at many places throughout the state during the 48-hour period.

In Dehradun the sky remained overcast throughout the day bringing the temperature one notch below normal for this time of the year, the department said.
