Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav were present at the inauguration function of the Lucknow Metro on Thursday.
The trial run of the Lucknow Metro is being held. The trial run is happening on 8.5 km stretch till Charbagh station.
It will be a matter of pride for the people of Lucknow to see two women piloting the train on the priority section. The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) have given the opportunity to women so that they get a chance to prove their mettle before public in handling high-tech Metro trains.
The two women taking the lead are Pratibha and Prachi Sharma, both from Allahabad.
A total of 21 stations will be there in 23-km long North-South corridor. Out of these stations, eight stations will be elevated ones. The estimated cost of this project will be around Rs 6800 crores.
With this, Lucknow will become the first city in the country where women operators will commence Metro trials.
