Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the NITI Aayog lecture series.
During his inaugration speech, Modi said, “Each country has its own resources, experiences & strengths. Today countries are inter-dependent & inter-connected. Now no country can afford any longer to develop in isolation.”
“Young people in India thinking and aspiring so differently, that the government can no longer afford to remain rooted in the past. We have to change laws, eliminate unnecessary procedures, speed-up processes and adopt technology,” he added.
The Prime Minister asserted on the fact that India needs to transform rapidly. “My vision for India is ‘Rapid Transformation’, not gradual evolution. What we need is a collective opening of our minds, and to let in the new, global perspectives. Transformation of India cannot happen without transformation of governance. Transformation of governance can’t happen without transformation of mindset. And that can’t happen without transformative ideas,” he said.
Earlier on Friday, Modi met with Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who will give the first lecture.
