The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed appeals by more than 50 landowners of Surat, seeking compensation of their land acquired by the Reliance.

The owners alleged that Reliance had not paid them adequate compensation for land acquired for laying pipelines to transport gas from the Krishna-Godavari basin to Gujarat.

Earlier, the Apex Court issued notice to the company on appeals challenging the constitutional validity of the Petroleum and Minerals Pipelines (Acquisition of Right of User in Land) Act, 1962.
