At the press conference, DGMO Lt Gen Ranbir Singh had revealed that India had conducted surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan.

Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar briefed the envoys of 22 nations, including the P5 nations about India’s position.

The strikes were conducted after Pakistan violated ceasefire along the LoC at various locations including Poonch on Wednesday.

Pakistan however denied India’s claims saying that there have been no such surgical strikes.

Contrary to the Pakistani Army’s claims, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif acknowledged the strikes saying, “We condemn this attack, our desire for peace should not be interpreted as our weakness.”

“We are ready for the safety and defence of our country,” Sharif added.
