Residents of Shimla got respite from the sweltering heat after rains and hailstorms lashed the city on Tuesday evening.
Mercury touched 43 degrees Celsius in Himachal Pradesh on Monday as the lower hills witnessed the hottest day of the season.
Maximum temperatures in Shimla on Monday touched a high of 29.8 degrees, three notches above normal.
Sudden rise in temperature has triggered forest fires across the state in lower and mid hills. However, the local MeT department’s prediction of rains, thunder storms and snow at isolated places in lower, mid and higher hills for next five days should bring relief to the area.
