On the occasion of 136th birth anniversary of the great Indian writer Munshi Premchand, the search giant Google has created a special doodle dedicated to the legend.
The doodle is inspired for Premchand’s novel ‘Godaan’.
Born Dhanpat Rai on July 31, 1880 at Lamhi village in Uttar Pradesh, Premchand started writing at the age of 13. He wrote nearly 300 short stories, novels and essays in his lifetime.
His writings narrated stories of India, mostly before independence.
known as the ‘Shakespeare of India’ and ‘Upanyaas Samrat’, Premchand was fluent in Urdu, Persian, and also learnt English.
However, he chose Hindi as his medium of work.
His stories acted as mirror to the society and also embodied social criticism and a purpose.
He bade goodbye to this world in October 8, 1936, due to ill health. He was 56 years old at the time.
