The Supreme Court on Monday, quashed criminal proceedings against Indian cricketer, M S Dhoni for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by portraying as a god on a magazine cover.

Dhoni was portrayed as the Hindu God ‘Vishnu’ on a magazine cover in April, 2013 following which, a non-bailable warrant had been issued against Dhoni by a local court in Anantpur, Andhra Pradesh  for hurting religious sentiment.

The cover was featured for a story, ‘God of Big Deals’ and displayed Dhoni holding a Lays packet, a Pepsi bottle amongst other popular brands in each hand.
