The Centre told the apex court that the decision to form the Cauvery Management Board is the Parliament’s prerogative and the court cannot ask it to do so.

The Supreme Court had given the Centre four weeks to constitute the board on September 20. The Centre, however, says the apex court has no jurisdiction there.

According to reports, the apex court will hear the petition on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has quizzed Karnataka on not releasing water to Tamil Nadu. The state has been asked to brief the apex court by 2 pm on Tuesday whether it has released water to Tamil Nadu.
