In several regions of the country, people celebrated the canonisation ceremony of Mother Teresa.
Mother Teresa is to be declared a saint in a canonisation ceremony led by Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic Church in Vatican City.
Earlier on Sunday morning, a celebratory procession was taken out in Allahabad on Sunday morning in light of Mother Teresa’s canonisation.
Special mass were held in the honour of the to be ‘Saint’, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Panaji. A similar mass was also held in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Special prayers were also offered at the Sacred Heart Church in Bengaluru.
To commemorate the day, which also marks the eve of her death anniversary, a statue of Mother Teresa was unveiled at the Seashore St. Anthony’s Shrine in Chennai.
The ceremony is to be held on Sunday in Vatican City in the presence of over a lakh of her followers from all over the world.
