Founder of technology giant Microsoft Bill Gates today lauding the government’s demonetisation move said, “this was an very important step to eradicate shadow economy and attain a more transparent economy.
Bill Gates said, “India would become one of the most digitised economies in the near future with rise in digital transactions.”
“It is fantastic that you took steps to change the GST, but that is just the beginning,” he added.
Gates argued that for a better future India needed to develop an innovative ecosystem to build products future, in order to meet challenges facing the world.
“The world is looking to India not just to solve its problems but to address global challenges through innovation,” Gates said, delivering a speech for the ‘NITI-Lectures series: Transforming India’ in the presence of PM Narendra Modi and his Cabinet colleagues.
Praising government’s Aadhaar unique identification initiative, Startup India, and Swachh Bharat initiatives, Gates said India is witnessing never seen before upliftments.
Talking about MyGov initiative and Digital India, Gates said to streamline delivery of public services much more could be done by investing in infrastructure that enables better planning and performance monitoring.
Ending his speech, Gates said, “Ye hai mere mann ki baat.”
