Former Defence Minister AK Antony on Thursday praised the surgical strikes conducted across the Line of Control in Pakistan following a ceasefire violation in Kashmir.

“I salute bravery of Indian forces, this is a befitting reply to Pak. We support the Government,” AK Antony said.

“There is a strong message in this, we fully support the action by Indian Army. We support the Government and its endeavour to protect our national security,” Antony added.

At a joint press conference held by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Defence, DGMO Lt Gen Ranbir Singh had revealed that India had conducted surgical strikes in Pakistan occupied KAshmir (PoK).

The strikes were conducted after Pakistan violated ceasefire along the LoC at various locations including Poonch on Wednesday.

Pakistan however denied India’s claims saying that there have been no such surgical strikes.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh had also called for an all party meeting shortly after the incident. The meeting is currently underway.
