The wife of NIA officer Tanzil Ahmed, who was shot dead on April 3, succumbed to her injuries in AIIMS on Wednesday morning, according to sources. Her last rites will take place at Jamia Milia University Campus Burial Ground at 6.30pm today.
Tanzil Ahmed was murdered on April 3 after unknown assailants pumped 21 bullets into him while he was returning from a wedding in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district. Police had termed the killing a planned attack.
On Wednesday, Reyan and Junaid, two of the three killers of NIA officer Tanzil Ahmad, said that the motive behind the murder was not known to them, but also revealed that Ahmad’s behavior towards them was not nice.
During a press conference, Vijay Meena IG Bareilly said that Muneer fired the killing shot, while Reyaan was driving the bike when he overtook Tanzil Ahmad’s car.
This comes days after the state police announced a reward of Rs. 50,000 to those providing information on the main accused Muneer who is on the run.
Hundreds of people were questioned by the police to crack the sensational case. Last Friday, a section of the media had claimed arrests in the case, however, the police later denied such a development.
Tanzil Ahmed was probing terror cases related to Indian Mujahideen.
The police had suspected some “personal matter” may have been the reason behind the killing. However, a formal announcement by the police is awaited.
