The CBI on Wednesday filed chargesheet in a special court against Virendra Tawde in Dabholkar murder case. Tawde has been named a co-conspirator in the murder.
The CID team from Karnataka, probing the death of scholar M.M. Kalburgi, interrogated the Sanatan Sanstha member Virendra Tawde in Mumbai on Wednesday. Tawde has been arrested in connection with the murder of rationalist Narendra Dabholkar.
Home Minister G. Parameshwara said the decision to interrogate Tawde had been taken in the wake of the similarities in the murders of Dabholkar and rationalist Govind Pansare.
While the CBI had arrested Tawde on June 10 to probe his role in the murder of Dabholkar, a Kolhapur court recently remanded him in police custody till September 8 for investigation into the murder of Pansare. The investigation so far has revealed that the Kalburgi murder was a “very calculated and planned execution”, Dr Parameshwara said. A team of progressive writers met Dr Parameshwara on Tuesday and expressed concern over delay in investigations.
