Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has proposed to hike the fares across the routes in order to take care of its increasing expenses.

According to reports, they have recommended to increase the minimum fare of Rs 8 to Rs 15 and the maximum fare of Rs 30 to Rs 70.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has demanded that fares be hiked in view of increase in electricity tariff, which is a major component of the operational cost.

The fare fixation committee has to submit its recommendations to the government in the next two months.

Delhi Metro fares were last revised in 2009.
