The Kerala High Court on Monday refused the demand for Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the law student’s rape and murder case.

A 29-year-old Dalit girl, Perumbavoor, a law student, was allegedly subjected to rape and brutal assault using sharp edged weapons before being murdered at her house at nearby Perumbavoor in Ernakulam district on April 28.

The rape victim’s body had at least 30 injuries. Reportedly, the assault on her stomach had spilled out her small intestine.

The incident had drawn comparisons to the 2012 Delhi gangrape case that sparked widespread outrage and nationwide protests demanding an end to the growing incidents of sexual assault and abuse of women across the country.
