JNU Student Anmol Ratan Sent To 14 Day Judicial Custody In Rape Case

JNU PhD scholar Anmol Ratan, who had surrendered on Wednesday for raping a 28-year-old fellow student, has been sent to 14 day Judicial Custody.

On August 20, Ratan took a 28-year-old JNU student to his hostel near Bramhaputra under the pretext of giving her a certain movie where he offered her some drinks and later, sexually assaulted her. After the heinous crime, Ratan allegedly threatened the victim.

Ratan, an AISA activist, had surrendered before the police on Wednesday night merely hours after the victim recorded her statement before a magistrate.

“Anmol Ratan has surrendered at Vasant Kunj (north) police station,” Additional DCP (south) Nupur Prasad said. The accused, who was absconding since August 20, surrendered around 10.15 PM at the police station.

He was expelled from AISA after being accused of rape.
