Rajya Sabha MP and Janata Dal (United) leader Ali Anwar has made a controversial remark against newly-appointed Textile Minister Smriti Irani.
Anwar told a news channel, “Good that Irani has been elected as textile minister; it will help her cover body.”
As per a report in ABP news, later Anwar tried to dilute his statement saying that he “was referring to the bodies of the people in general.”
On Tuesday, Smriti Irani was sent to the low-profile Textiles Ministry, while Prakash Javadekar took charge of the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry.
On Thursday, while addressing to media Javadekar reacted to Anwar’s comment, saying “This is the worse comment I had ever heard of”.
