From Supporting Balochistan’s Freedom To Backing Inflation, Here Is What All PM Modi Said On Independence Day

On the occasion of India’s 70th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from Red Fort, here is what all he said during this address:

Backed ‘freedom’ in Balochistan, Pakistani Kashmir: “I want to speak a bit about the people in Balochistan, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir,” the Prime Minister said in his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort. “The world is watching. People of Balochistan, Gilgit and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir have thanked me a lot in the past few days,” Modi said. “I am grateful to them.” He said the way people from these Pakistani regions “wished me well, gives me great joy”.

Backed 4 percent inflation target: “Under the previous government, the inflation level had crossed the 10 per cent mark. But we did not let it rise above 6 per cent,” Modi said.
Social justice for a strong nation: “Only economic development cannot guarantee a strong nation, we also need an empowered society,” Modi said.

Lauded GST : “GST will give strength to our economy. All parties are to be thanked for its passage,” Modi said.

Lauded Indian economy: “It is important for India to remain relevant and lead the global economy. But that is possible only if we adopt global standards. In recent days you have already seen how rating agencies have appreciated our moves on ease of doing business.”

Sought social support for Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign: “I still need social support for ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’,” the Prime Minsiter said.

Lauded Jan Dhan Yojana: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the impossible was made possible by adding 21 crore people in the Jan Dhan Yojana.

Pledged to distribute 77 crore LED lights: “We want to distribute 77 crore more LED bulbs. I urge you all to use LED bulbs, save energy and take part in helping our nation,” Modi said.

Conversion of Post Office into Payment banks: “Post offices will be converted into payment banks,” he said.

Congratulated farmers for enabling adequate food reserves: “It is my dream to double the income of farmers by 2022,” Modi said in his address to the nation from the Red Fort here on the 70th Independence Day.

Call for accountability: “Accountability should be at the root of good governance,” the prime minister said in his speech from the Red Fort.

Announces hike in freedom fighters pensions: “Pension for our freedom fighters will be increased by 20 per cent. So those who are receiving Rs 25,000 will now get Rs 30,000,” Modi said .

Thanked soldiers : The Prime Minister in his Independence Day speech from the Red Fort said India cannot forget the soldiers because of whom we enjoy our freedom.

Promised to change middle class’ fear of taxation: “The middle class is more bothered about tax than the police. This situation needs to change… I will change it,” Modi said.
