Former RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin, the main accused in the murder of Rajiv Raushan, has been released from jail after 11 years.

Shahabuddin, who was granted bail by the Patna High Court on Wednesday, was serving time in the Siwan jail for the murder of Rajiv Raushan, an eyewitness a murder case.

Shahabuddin was accused of hiring sharp shooters to kill Raushan, who had witnessed the killings of Satish Raj and Girish Raj on August 16, 2004 in Siwan. The brothers, on Shahabuddin’s orders, were drenched in acid.

Upon his release, Shahabuddin, in a statement to the media said, “We all know I was framed. But it was Court who jailed me, Court has released me. This has got nothing to do with politics, judicial has its own procedures.”

“Why would I try to change my image? People have accepted me the way I am for 26 years,” he added.
