The Indian Army has shifted out the commander of the Uri brigade, according to defence officials, PTI reported on Saturday. According to news agencies, the brigadier will be shifted out of the base till the investigation into the strike is completed.
Colonel Yashpal takes over as the new commander.
The transfer of the commander, who was unnamed in reports, follows the militant attack on the Army base in Uri sector, in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, on September 18.
The toll in the strike on the Uri base rose to 19 on Friday as Indian Army soldier Naik Rajkishor Singh succumbed to his injuries.
