Following the demand of the opposition, the government has agreed to a discussion on the crisis in Kashmir in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

Following the demand of the opposition, the government has agreed to a discussion on the crisis in Kashmir in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

This will be the second discussion on Kashmir in the current Monsoon session of parliament.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh has agreed to the discussion as the first item on the agenda for Wednesday. It is expected to start, in an unusual move, at 11 am when the House convenes, with Zero Hour likely to be suspended.

Over 55 people have been killed and over 5,000 people injured in clashes between the security forces and protesters in Kashmir Valley.

Clashes erupted following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in an encounter on July 8.
