Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday urged the people of the state to help the government to restore normalcy in the state.
“I appeal everyone to help the government to bring back peace and normalcy in the state,” she said in a statement today.
While justifying her decision to impose curfew in the valley, she said, “When I got news that Burhan Wani has been killed in an encounter, I ordered curfew anticipating protests, so that no life is lost.”
“Security personnel were told to act calmly. Sad, despite taking all measures, lives were lost during protest,” she added.
While promising to take action in cases where the sceurity personnel acted ‘harshly’, Mufti said that, “Incidents where security personnel have acted harshly and have used excess force, will be investigated.”
