J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who arrived in the capital on Friday evening, is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday to discuss the situation in the Kashmir Valley.
Government sources in Srinagar and Delhi confirmed that Mehbooba would be meeting Modi at his official 7 Race Course Road.
The meeting comes two days after home minister Rajnath Singh’s two-day Kashmir trip failed to cut ice with separatist leaders spearheading the violent unrest triggered by the July 8 killing of Hizbul terrorist Burhan Wani.
The unrest has left 70 people dead and crippled life in the valley.
