Three soldiers and a civilian were killed on Thursday when security forces were attacked by militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said.
“Militants ambushed and fired at the army in Chitargam village of Shopian district today morning,” police said here.
“The army was returning after carrying out a search operation in Kungoo village when they were ambushed by the militants,” police added.
“The victims included a lieutenant colonel and the civilian, a woman, was inside her house when a bullet hit her during the firing,” the police said.
Seven soldiers were also injured in the attack.
“Reinforcements were immediately rushed to surround the area and track the militants,” the police added.
